Hi ! Last weekend a french friend told me the story behind this box camera. It is a very simple camera made of cardboard with a plastic lens ( “Objectif Menisque” ) and a telescoping frame finder for 12 exposures 6x6. Obviously I have to reconsider my opinion that this is a 1930`s camera. If the story is true, this one had been built in the early 1960`s. This box had been a present for first class passengers at the maiden voyage of the ocean liner “SS France “ from Le Havre to New York in 1962. A model with black front plate had been given to the second class passengers. Mc Keown mentions: Some old stock surfaced in France. Mine is unused with original packaging. I think nobody had taken pictures with this very basic camera. If you could afford a first class overseas voyage in the 1960`s, usually you had a Leica, or something similar in your pocket. MIK

MIK,
I have to be a sceptic about the SS France story.
I can't imagine the steamship owners giving it away without some kind of advertising for their company on it.
