Hi everyone, Not sure if it's just timing, seasonal blahs or whatever but I'm up to my knees in new cameras lately and only so much time and decent light to go around. In the last two weeks I've acquired an Olympus OM-1 (thanks Bob), 2 Minolta SRT 101's (1 with the 58 f1.4), a Minolta SRT 200, Hanimex Nova 1B, GAF L-CM, Ricoh Singlex TLS, Mamiya/Sekor 1000 DTL, Sears 1000 MX TLS, Yashica J-5 (Jammed shutter though), Minolta X370, Trumpfreflex (TLR w/autofiring shutter, no focus and no ground glass to tinker with) and a Houghton Butcher Ensign Watch Pocket Carbine. On Friday I'm going to my US maildrop to pick up my other goodies, a Montanus Montana, Wirgin Edixa 1, unknown Zeiss Ikon folder, 200mm Sankyo Kohki lens, another Minolta SRT 101, and a Polaris 80-210 Zoom. Also found a Komura 2x teleconverter for Nikon F at a local thrift store. Some will be winter projects, a few will get used as soon as the weather permits, and a couple like the Ensign are just because they're beautiful to handle. Has anyone else had any luck lately in finding any new treasures? Seems awfully quiet even if it is so close to American Thanksgiving. Maybe everyone is out using their cameras so we can share a few pictures? Hello......echo..echo.....

I was sitting at work today, minding my own business and a young blonde walked in and gave me 2 Minolta SRT-101s and a Minolta Autopak 8 Super 8 Movie Camera! All with carrying cases, sunshades, filters, close up lenses, two flash guns, all kinds of paperwork, and a peck on the cheek! Everything works including the meters! I even got 2 fully charged 625 mercury batteries! I still don't believe it so excuse my befuddlement. P.S. No pictures lately Curt because it's been so cloudy and rainy.

Hi Randy, Yes, gloomy weather here too so not many pictures. Built my cheapo macro lighting box yesterday so I'll be starting the daunting task of photographing each and every camera I own tommorrow. Today is for chiropractor and massage therapy. Massage sounds nice but therapeutic massage uses elbows to break up adhesions instead of fingers to relax, so ahead of time. OUCH. I can believe people would give a camera to someone who'd value it or use it. Sounds like you lucked out. Now for the important part, any pictures of the young blonde, LOL?

Nah, no pictures, she's my cousin. It was her grandfather's stuff and nobody wanted it.

Hi Curt, That's quite a haul in two weeks! One particularly that interests me because it comes in my favourite camera collecting period is the Watch Pocket Carbine.
I think I'm correct in saying that the name was first used by W. Butcher & Sons for a camera made in Germany by ICA before it became part of Zeiss Ikon, and was known in Germany as the Icarette though Butcher fitted it with an English Aldis lens. I think this was the 6x6 model which opened 'sideways' like a lot of much later 6x6 folders.
I think later models were made in the UK after Butcher merged with Houghton and used Houghton's Ensign as their trademark, and later as the company name.
Other models in the Watch Pocket Carbine range were 6x9 and, I think, 6.5x11, and opened 'lengthways'. It was a popular range of cameras in the 1920s and came with variety of different lenses and shutters including some with Zeiss Tessars. Can you give some more details of yours, and pic if possible?
I haven't got a Watch Pocket Carbine, most of the ones I've come across have been rather well worn and the sellers wanted too much for them, but I believe one of our UK members, Roger Provins, has one which he has refurbished and recovered. Am I right, Roger?

8-)Hi guys Yes this E.vil bay lark has got a grip in this neck of the wood.(We have to make our own fun in deepest Fenland)I am now the proud owner of FIVE new cameras, which are, in no particular order A Fuji FZ-3000 zoomdate Canon Epoca 35-105 MInolta AutoFocus V ( it talks to you!) Konica red tomato (wifes favourite colour) Olympus muj zoom 35-115 the whole lot came to the princely sum of £34.97 ($70 approx) and that s including postage. Not bad for a first timer:always providing they all work! Watch this space (but don't hold yer breath) So now I'm trawling round various places with a carrier bag full of cameras taking comparison shots. See what you guys have got me into! regards Chris Ps the Epoca is called the 'Photura' in the USA. but you knew that of course.......

Hello everyone
Since I have limited my collecting to Mamiya Z series and NC's I have found very little on the evilbay which I don't already have, and the few items I do find are way over priced or beyond my budget. I do have a new acquistion though, a Minolta SRT 201, which my brother inlaw gave me. I sit on the desk just looking at me. It may win out in the end, if I can deside how to handle the battery issue.

Jack Wow! Another reason to be envious. I've been collecting Mamiya for almost 40 years, and I don't have all the possible pieces yet! Do you have all the CS- and E-series lenses? Have you collected the third-party lenses that were available for those mounts (Revuenon, Omestar, Osawa)? Bellows attachments, right-angle viewers, macro extension tubes? Diopter lenses, bellows stand, magnifier? Actual Mamiya filters? If so, and if you just possibly have duplicates, we need to talk! LOL! ;D

Wow, you're all amazing. I guess I'm heading the other way. Sold three of my rangefinders this week. I'm trying to thin out my collection a bit to just the regular users.

Gene I guess, once again Gene, we are of similar mind. I've been shooting some decent pix of many of my cameras, with the intent of listing them on the evilBay site. I'm thinking it may be time to thin the herd. Three barrister cases, two bookcases, one worktable and five large camera cases just may be too much! Of course, I've said similar things before...and usually wind up acquiring more stuff!

Also found a Komura 2x teleconverter for Nikon F at a local thrift store. Has anyone else had any luck lately in finding any new treasures? Good Lord........ Here I thought I was doing pretty well with the ebay stuff but by comparison I'm a piker. My "haul" includes an original (non-motor drive) OM-1, OM-1n, OM-2n with shutter speeds off, Nikkormat FTn and a Rolleicord V in pristine condition and accessories. Awaiting delivery are an OM-2 parts body, a nice Pentax Spotmatic IIa with extras and an OM-1 with 50mm f/1.4 Zuiko lens. (All of the other Olympus cameras came with the 50mm f/1.8 lens and the Nikkormat has the early 5cm f/2 Nikkor). Yesterday I missed out on a Zuiko 135mm f/2.8 lens and a Rolleiflex. I was first place "loser" on both. However, my ebaying is now over for at least the next four weeks. I'll try to save a little bit of money to cash in on Christmas savings as people often ignore ebay and spend their money on presents. It's a good time of year to snag a good bargain now and then. Don't tell anyone I said so though! Walker

Walker has the BUG! I've been picking up "as-is/ for Parts" stuff and trying home repair. Double-time required! Fix, then test. Picked up a Canon 50/1.2 RF lens for parts. I need the rear element for one that is incomplete. The retaining ring is so bent it would not come out with a spanner. I've always wanted a Dremel... Lord, ain't it the truth!!? I think I've gotten the "off" shutter speeds of the OM-2n back on target using new batteries and fooling with the shutter speed dial but now the speed scale won't show in "Auto" so I'll open it again later and see if I failed to put the cords back correctly. The good news is that the manual scale shows OK and the speeds seem to be proper. I'll test the speeds as soon as I have the chance. The camera came with a 50mm f/1.8 Zuiko lens AND the Shoe #4 which is hard to find at a reasonable price. Cost? $31.20 delivered. Brian, a Dremel Tool with a flex shaft and a good selection of attachments is a wonderful thing to have. It can also ruin a perfectly good item if you're not careful. That's experience - sadly - speaking. Walker

Ok Peter, Just because you asked: Houghton Butcher Watch Pocket Carbine, Ensign E20 or Carbine C20 film 2 1/4 x 3 1/4 Aldis Uno Anastigmat f7.7 4.75 In Focus Ansco Vest Pocket No. 0 1917 2C film A Zeiss Ikomat 520/15 that I received as a rusted pile of hooey in a box lot. Rust still shows behind bellows, on handle and sadly on the film pressure plate. Since film is scarce and pressure plate is rusted, more of a shelf queen than a user.

Hello Ron
I have all the camera bodies, and most of the lens except the NC 14 and 21MM and 50 macro, The Z series I am missing the 50mm 1.4 and the 2 short zooms. I do not collect the third party items yet except for an Osawa 2x extender. I do not have any of the following items yet . bellows attachments, right-angle viewers, macro extension tubes,Diopter lenses, bellows stand, magnifier, Actual Mamiya filters. I do have the NC focusing screens, Z winder, remote and flashes except for the 36R , lens adaptors except the 645. The only spares I have are a few parts/repair bodies. Retirement and my granddaughter have put a big crimp in my budget lately. I did bid on a cs 21mm but it went passed my budget for the year.
