Hello, Here's three pictures taken in the Arboretum of San Francisco recently. I used my Bessa R2, with the CV 35/2.5 'C' lens, and Konica VX 100 film. Any comments are welcome! Arboretum 03 Arboretum 04 Arboretum 05

Wow!
Great shots!!!
Love how the mist fades the color to what looks like B&W in the backround....
Nice job!

They are all good shots but I think the first is my favourite one. Konica film doesn't get much attention and it is a shame. I still miss their Impressa 50 film.

Very nice pictures, Michael.
The diffused light, subdued colours and mist all add to the atmosphere and produce something totally different from a similar scene taken on a bright sunny day. Well seen and well taken.

Thanks everyone! These are a little more 'sharpened' looking than the scans my lab usually does. I noticed that adjusting the contrast in MS Picture It! would immediately blur them. Anyone else run across this? It's a choice between a-little-too-sharp and a-little-too-soft Roy -- my parents lived in Paradise (near Chico, everyone) for a few years, so I've been in Chico and the area. I was wondering if your cliff pictures were taken up by Paradise?

I love doing landscapes, and these are spectacular! That foggy background lends a marvelous atmosphere. The runner in the first frame is a nice touch, too. Adds to the impression of scale. I think the diffused lighting on overcast, rainy or foggy days is my favorite time to shoot.

Michael: Small World! They sure were! Lookout Point on the Skyway between Chico and Paradise. The portrait of my daughter looking into the camera was at the lookout on Old Skyway just at the lower end of Magalia. Here are a few of the cliffs from the other side. These were taken from the area of the covered bridge over Butte Creek. Somewhere I have some pictures of the bridge. Very nice, Michael. I was trying to remember the last time I was in San Francisco (we passed through the airport in April). I think it was 1978! Probably has changed a little since then.

Thanks Roy! I like your cliff pictures, brings back memories of my drives there. I've got a Minolta too, a 201. Just took it in to work yesterday and it got some attention. Even people who only shoot digital are drawn to a classic camera.
Wayne, SF used to have more of a small-town feeling, according to my wife who grew up here. It still has distinct neighborhoods. Less European influence, more Asian now. For instance, Geary St. and the Avenues was heavily Russian and German. There is still that element but it's no longer dominant. Everything is more crowded, expensive, etc. since the Silicon Valley boom. My wife used to drive through Silicon Valley when it was Citrus Valley -- orange and lemon groves.
