Well, hardly a "correction" since you were pretty much right!

FWIW methyl alcohol isn't actually toxic, directly. Unfortunately, it's broken down in the body to formaldehyde. Yes, that's the stuff they use for preserving body tissues for later dissection or whatever, so it's actually the formaldehyde that makes you blind & mad if you drink meths. Presumably if you drink plenty you'll be well-preserved though!
