I picked up and F3 with a DA-2 finder locally awhile back only to discover that the F stop numbers were not readable in the VF. The seller kindly sent the finder to Nikon Canada to have it repaired at NC to me. I got it back today and the F stops are now readable in the finder. Nikon Canada did a fine job and the seller I would buy from again. It looks small now with the 250 exposure back and MD removed. It is still quite heavy compared to my FM2n. The finder is fun to use and if half the split image blacks out by moving your eye away from the finder it comes back. Bob

That's a pretty F3 -- mine is more scuffed up. Yep, it's got heft all right and is noticeably heavier than my FM2n. Lovely balance though. They make a complementary pair. Glad to hear the VF got fixed!

It is a fantastic camera to see, just feel and of course to use. I find more and more that, as the arthritis and shakiness in my hands increases, that a heavier camera is a lot easier to maintain physical control of and to use. A lighter one and it is moving all around.
I have the F3HP and love it!!

Boy. I thought my F3 was mint but I think your's is "mintier."
The lcd Fstop readout is one of the weaker points of the F3. I think the life span is supposed to be like seven years. But they last a lot longer if you don't expose the camera to high temps. Leaving it in a hot car will shorten the life of the lcd considerably.
I would like to have a DA2 finder for mine.
