CYLONS, Randy. Cylons! BTW, I watched the first group of shows in the new Galactica series and felt it was pretty darned good sci-fi. I haven't seen it since summer '05. Hope they've been able to maintain their standards and resist the "Irwin Allen Syndrome" which afflicted SeaQuest after the first two seasons.
Howdy Shooter, it appears we both like Dodge Trucks too...eh?
Yes, I love the truck. That's not an actual pic of my truck though. I lifted that avatar off of the Dodge web site. But, mine is exactly the same except for the scoop on the hood. My truck doesn't have the scoop. But it is all red!

On another mailing list I subscribe to somebody with a black Bessaflex has complained about the film speed dial being very loose so that even a bump can move it. That's certainly not true of my silver Bessaflex so can somebody with a black one give their opinion? Thanks.

@ Rachel:
I have a black Bessaflex and I wouldn't say the the film speed dial is particularly loose, just that it doesn't quite have the same positive detents (click stops) of the shutter speed dial. Compared to my Praktica BC-1 with it's lift-turn-release-lock film speed knob, certainly there may be some margin for error with the Bessaflex.
That said, I know of someone with the silver Bessaflex who encountered the same problem...
Check before you shoot would seem to be the best, and now that the cameras are discontinued, the only solution.

Thanks for that feedback Bob. The owner of the black Bessaflex has been told by the importers that it's a design fault but that sounds unlikely to me. Checking my silver Bessaflex again, the indents for the film speed dial seem as positive as the shutter speed dial so it looks like an individual thing to me. Even though the camera is now discontinued, if the camera is still under warranty, Cosina ought to be responsible for getting it fixed.

Agreed - if the camera is indeed faulty, although I was more referring to the impossibility of there being a design change due to the discontinuation.
There is one other thing that as yet I haven't found any reference to...
On mine, I can't use any lenses that have a "nose" like the CZJ Biotar 2/58 or Flektogon 2.8/35 (the later 2.4 version is OK) due to the "nose" fouling the camera's stop-down pusher and thus preventing the shutter from firing.
Might be an idea to try all your lenses if you haven't already done so...
I can provide a list of the lenses that I've tried if necessary.

Hmm..... my semi-auto CZJ Biotar 2/58 works OK with the camera. Most of my M42 are fairly modern lenses but I'll go through them and see if any are a problem. I recall that my old Praktica IVF had a switch on the stop-down pusher because of this very problem with some lenses.

Here's a list of what I've tried on my black Bessie:
CZJ Flektogon 4/20 zebra focus ring - OK CZJ Flektogon 2.8/20 - OK CZJ Flektogon 2.4/35 - OK CZJ Pancolar 1.8/50 electric, milled focus ring - OK CZJ S 3.5/135 (Sonnar) both zebra & milled focus ring versions - OK
Meyer Lydith 3.5/30 & later Pentacon 3.5/30 - OK Meyer Primotar 3.5/80 - OK Meyer Orestor 2.8/100 - OK Meyer Orestor 2.8/135 - OK Meyer Orestegor 4/200 - OK
Sigma Zoom Master 2.8-4/35-70 - OK
Hanimex C-Macro 4.5/80-200 - OK
Pentacon P6-M42 semi-auto adapter, zebra ring - OK
T-Mount adapter - OK as would be expected
* The CZJ Flektogon 4/25 may well work too but I can't confirm it due to not having the lens.
CZJ Flektogon 2.8/35 alu preset version - Not OK CZJ Biotar 2/58 alu preset version - Not OK

The Bessaflex TM appeared in 2003 and according to Stephen Gandy, the black model was discontinued in September 2006 and the silver in March 2007. I got one of the last black ones from Robert White in the UK and as far as I know, they still have a few of the silver, but I wouldn't hang about if you want one.
As for the reason for the discontinuation, I've read (unofficially..) that it's so that Cosina can concentrate production on the Zeiss lens line and RF camera/lenses lines.

My search for the Black Bessaflex continues. I'd be willing to trade one of my rare cameras for one.

Darn. Now I want one. And I know I wouldn't use it enough to justify buying it...
