Two beauties here in the Sonoran Desert, north of the Phoenix area. These appear sporadically this time of year during the monsoon season. Both images shot with Nikon Coolpix 950. It was discovered after shooting that the lens was smudged, thus the image softness. This one is on our property Our neighbors place

Take it that the monsoon hasn't started yet (and by the look of things it has failed for the last few years). How about we have one of your summers, and you can have one of our globally warmed ones? The water level would be about up to the top of the cactus in the first picture!

We've actually had the 10th wettest monsoon this year.
John, thanks but no thanks. I lived in dark and damp Oregon too be able to imagine a life on your island. Can't get enough of that glowing orb in the sky!

the light in the first one is exceptional! I like it very much! Otherwise I think I like green meadows more than deserts... ;-)
