Still unemployed and still hitting the thrift shops with the girlfriend! The past few weeks, P&S have been turning up. It's a category I usually turn away from but each of these has some endearing qualities. I don't know if these are the 35mm pocket camera perfected but they sure charm the heck out of me! The Stylus was quite dirty but quite cheap when I found it. I managed to get front and back covers off and clean most of the offending schtuff out. Still a few spots in the finder. The Stylus Epic turned up a week later. Not clean, but not nearly as dirty as the Stylus. This is a slick redesign incorporating a faster, 4 element lens in a smaller package. I was so tempted to get one of these new some years ago but resisted the urge. This one saw some use as evidenced by the wear on the sharp corners. Canon point and shoots never impressed me until the ELPH. (This coming from a devoted Canonite!) Zoom point and shoots don't impress me either. The attraction was the four rolls of film that came with it for $4.00. But look again, this camera has some reach! It zooms to 118mm on the long end. Size isn't bad either. No rangefinder, no meter, no bellows to open. I think that makes this a point and shoot. The block lettering on the front makes this a late Retinette. I don't know if the Schneider Reomar is a 3 or 4 element lens. Oddly, it has projected framelines but no strap lugs. The shutter is sticky at 30 and 60 but seems OK at 125 and 250. All will get checked out with film then put up for adoption. That Stylus Epic is still appealing, tho... Bill

Nice cameras Bill. I have the Stylus and Retinette too. Both decent little performers. Been doing pretty much the same style shopping locally too. Picked up (on 1/2 price day so $1.50 each) a Pentax Sport DX and an Olympus Trip AF Super as well as two digital point 'n shoots: an early Kodak w/media card and an HP w/SD card. Both digitals work and were a grand total of $8 combined.
