Same here - first couple of dry days for ages here, and it turned foggy. The previous night you could see the Milky Way clear as anything. Frustrating, as the mist was probably only a few feet above the rooftops. But we meteor hunters and alien abductees are made of stern stuff - have no fear, we'll be out there at the first sign of an Amazon meteor fall.
Regards - John

Time to get out there again Mickey The Geminids are out tonight - around 2200 UT onwards, so probably as soon as it gets dark there. They were talking about 140 per minute at previous peaks and the Geminids are increasing, so worth a look! Regards - John My server was not serving so I got your message too late and tonight is overcast. I must be cursed or jinxed or been given the evil eye. Astronomy is to be ignored by me from now on. Last time I saw that clearly was the year my second son graduated high school (1993) and we took a camping trip to Gros Ventre Campground, at the foot of the Grand Tetons in Wyoming. Around here, there is so much ambient light from buildings, plants, malls and neighborhoods, you can't see the Milky Way at all!

I always pictured meteors as all pitted and rough. Obviously I was wrong. The label definitely identifies it as a meteor.
Nice find.
Mickey
P.S. I wonder what those things I saw in The Royal Ontario Museum really are.
