Gene - I love the grain in this one ... reminiscent of old Kodak Tri-X days. Was the shot hand held?

Gene,
Who'da thunk. The very thing that plagued photographers for years you somehow turn into art.

Gene
Just curious about the grain. Did you get that from just converting the high iso colour file to B&W or did you add a grain effect in pp? Whichever way you did it, it did work well.

Very nice unusual picture, Gene.
I'm not normally a lover of grain or noise, but in this case it works most effectively to give a cold morning look.
Reminds me of the results from something like HP5 push-processed in very dilute Rodinal.

Ron, Mickey, Bob, Peter, thanks for your comments.
It was a handheld shot at, I think, ISO 400, wide open (f/2.8). The digital image wasn't very grainy -- sensors these days are amazing.
I use a plug-in from Nik Software called Silver Efex Pro which I used here. It's a superb B&W conversion plug-in and I usually customize the effects considerably. But when I saw the look of "Push Process +2" I loved the "grain" it introduced, thinking it very film-like. With the two major highlights and the darkness of the buildings and structures, I decided to go with this look. It reminded me of some of my Tri-X, HP5, and Royal-X Pan shots from years ago.

Gene I thought it looked a lot like some of my old Tri-X negs! And i didn't have to digitize a thing to get them to look that way!
