Nice catch, Mickey, it sports a coated Schneider lens, so the pics should be rewarding! Hans

The best of the Agfa Karat 35mm versions of the older Rapid cameras from Agfa, still retains a few oddities like the film advance. Originally an expensive camera, quite up market.

I just received an Agfa Karat 36 from eBay. $25.00 + $11.00 postage from British Columbia.Mickey Excellent catch, Mickey. The reverse rapid wind caused me to pass on one as I thought the camera was jammed!

The reverse rapid wind caused me to pass on one as I thought the camera was jammed! It had me puzzled when I first tried it. I thought "Jerk. you should know better than to use eBay." But before getting out my jackhammer and blasting caps I checked with Mr. Butkus' place for the manual. Mickey

It's an advantage to having sold and handled so many camera types, few have oddities to catch one out! I did get caught on the Certo Certi, the East German ones, that need a film in place to work, and it is not that obvious just why at first. Most cameras that require the film in place use it to space frames and allow cocking, and generally frustrate the user! Stephen

When I look back at the cameras that I plan to purge one day, I've decided that I'll keep my Agfas.
For many reasons, I like them. Partly, it goes back to my affection for Agfachrome 64, one of my favorite films during the 1970s.
And I just like their cameras.
I have several Agfa Karats, from the first "art deco" model to the final Karat 36, the Solinette II and Super Solinette, several Silettes, the Isolette III and Super Isolette and the Agfa Record III. I also have used the Optima Reflex and have the half-frame cameras with the Optima-Parat being one of my Top 5 cameras of any makes.
There are some others. The early SLR, which probably is the heaviest 35mm SLR that I've ever picked up.
They are all worthy cameras.
