Hi ! Is there anyone across the pond who can tell me something about this Bakelite beauty ?: A Photo-Craft Deluxe for 127 film. The back-cover is marked with “Chicago Ill. Made in USA” and “use STD Vest Pocket Film”. It has, just like the Falcon also place for a spare roll of film. The lens is marked with “ Rollax 50mm “. This is the reason why I assume, this model had also been manufactured by the Rolls Company in Chicago. I have a second one with this lens: The 1939 Rolls-Camera with the same housing, but with rewinding knob. The third is a metal camera with snake-skin covering called Rolls Twin 620 with a “Rollax 62mm”. Is there somebody who knows details of the Rolls Camera Mfg.Co. ? What is a STD Vest Pocket Film ? MIK

McKeown's lists the Beauta (1/2 frame 127), Picta Twin 620 (Rollax 620 shutter), Rolls (1/2 frame 127), Rolls Twin 620 (620 box type camera), Super Rolls 35mm f3.5, Super Rolls 35mm f4.5 and Super Rolls Seven Seven (4x5 exposures on 620) as the Rolls camera line made in Chicago, Ill. I'm assuming an article on the Herbert George/Imperial Camera Corp. would be worth checking out.

Super Rolls f3.5 35mm Good luck on finding information on the Rolls Camera Manufacturing Co. I've tried & pretty much come up dry. What I think I know: The company was formed in the late 30's, made the BAKELITE & cast metal cameras for a year or two and ceased to exist by the beginning of WWII. I ask the same question on another forum & the only new information I was given (thank you diser) is that the Rolls Camera Manufacturing Company was sued for patent infringement, J. Galter v. Rolls Camera Mfg. Co., and enjoined, by consent, from further infringement on 10/21/1941. Seems to be the death blow. Hi MIK! That's a fine collection you have there! I've found some references to cameras made in the same factory at 711-715 W. Lake St. in Chicago. They were badged differently. Some of the names I came up with are Spartus, Spencer, Falcon, and Monarch, there are probably a lot more. Your Twin Rolls 620 is a dead ringer for the Photo Master Super 16 Twin 620! This is all information from an old McKeown's that I've got. I hope that helps you out Doug

Hi ! I found another Rolls camera these days, A black Super Rolls 35mm with a Diaphram Achromatic Rollax Lens F 4.5. This one is not made of plastic, but fits right in to the thread. I would date this one around 1940, but I am not sure, I found nothing new concerning the Rolls Company.
