There is a Garret museum in Leiston in Suffolk. See www.longshop.care4free.net/ and www.longshopmuseum.co.uk/. I've never been there but if any members are on holiday in the area it might be worth a visit. Old agricultural machinery often turns up at some of the country shows and can sometimes be seen working.

Here in my neck of the woods, we don't see the steam powered equipment at all. Here we see collections of old petrol-engined (gasoline, kerosene, diesel, even heating oil) equipment at many gatherings, usually all running at the same time. A wonderful cacophony of mechanical noise!

This is our biggest show, about an hour away: www.nationalthreshers.com/The smell of coal burning, and the sound of 50 steam whistles at noon is something to experience. There are also a lot of antique gas and diesel tractors. A lot of the tractor owners put the rubber blocks on their wheels so they don't damage the roads or turf when they are displaying the tractor.
