I had forgotten all about this picture until I came across the negative sorting through a box this afternoon. It was taken one evening in 1977. My late wife Valerie and I were sitting in the room we laughingly called our "office" and which is now my den. She was going through a book of proof prints ready to start printing next morning, and I was checking out a Praktica Nova with Tessar lens which I'd picked up that afternoon. I loaded the Praktica with FP4 ready to try it out next day, looked up and saw this picture. I took it by ordinary room lighting, exposure guesstimated and now forgotten. I pushed the development a little, fearing underexposure, and this made it a little grainy, but overall I was pleased with the result. PeterW

Rediscovered negatives and suchlike are the best of all. Better in many ways than the discovery of something completely new.
Proper black and white i.e. film has a look to it that digital doesn't match. The large grain adds to the occasion. Digital grain just doesn't work.
On all fronts a lovely photo.

You are lucky Peter. That's a great memory. When I take pictures of Freda like that she get's mad at me.

PeterW,
At last a portrait that says something other than 'Cheese'.
Lovely.
