I read the book "the Untouchables" alongside the TV series: here quite a remarkable story.
The Airflow, for me, was the furthest departure from the standard design to that time. Peter, losing the running boards was probably thought to be a step too far.

Doug,
My eldest son's first "luxury" car was a Porsche. I don't know what model. It was a sports car built very low to the ground and it had a big "wing" mounted on the rear. It was truly ugly. That was about 22 +/- years ago.
He was very proud of it until our first 3" snowfall. It got stranded in the middle of the road a block from his house while all the other cars effortlessly scooted around it. The tow truck driver was a little less than sympathetic.
It was replaced shortly afterward by a Mercedes a make that he stuck with faithfully for years. It did look like a real car. He did have a very brief affair with an Audi which tried to drive off by itself - no driver.

Randy,
There is the reason for today's rising crime rate. The cops no longer wear fedoras.

Hi ! I never heard of these streamline cars before, thanks for showing. As Mickey said, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but i like all 3 pictured cars. They have some kind of character, whereas todays modern cars are looking like shoe boxes or Easter eggs. Doug, as you know I had a 2CV and a Dyane in my younger days too, but the AMI is a very speacial way to travel. A former friend of mine had one back in the early 1980`s and people said at that time: This car even makes the driver ugly I dont know if he got a girlfriend, the other guys were driving Benz, Audis and customized Beetles with Porsche wheels ( I did ;D ). To me they look more like a wedge of cheese. My Matrix - Definitely Danish Blue. Mickey
