Other than for the length of the shadows, it could be summer. It looks as though it has been quite dry too.

December and no snow! I would find that hard to take.

Dave: Good catch on the shadows. Yes, it has been rather dry here--virtually no precip in December until the last two days of the month. We've received half of normal for this time of year. Be aware, however, that "normal" here is only about 10 inches of rainfall a year (compared to 50 or 60 inches along the west coast). It's not that unusual--we have two or three years like this out of every 10. A "perfect" winter in these parts is 15 feet of snow in the nearby mountains and rain here in the valley. Below is another shot looking from where we live across the valley toward an 6,000-foot (1,800 meters) peak called Squaw Butte (not a politically correct name is the minds of some but people here don't want to change it). Normally at least the top third of the peak would be snow covered at this time of year. Shot with my Fuji F600 EXR. W.

Wayne, We also had no snow so far here. I took this picture on 23. Dec. in the evening: Weather forecast for this week in Vienna: +9° C ! MIK
