Now if we can only figure out how to put this CCD and related pieces parts into our 35mm SLRs, we will have Bali Hai.

Thanks for the link, I can almost get my head around that. Now to interject a point of national pride, one of the co-inventors of the CCD was a Canadian.

I've always wanted a cassette shaped memory card with a thin film like sensor hanging out that will fit in my film cameras. The cassette would be rechargeable & store about 100 pictures. It would have a little slider for setting ISO 25, 50, 100, 200, 400 & 800. The images would be stored/filed as shot. Sorter self winding sensor. You would still need to cock the shutter. Once the alarm goes off. You would need to download the memory & retrieve your images. That would be nice.

It's been invented. Crashed for lack of funding, and probably lack of market. philsmythos.blogspot.com/2011/10/virtual-film.htmlMaybe, if every one who had a classic shooter would subscribe, they could justify building one and selling it. What a great thing that would be.

How about a reasonably good quality point and shoot with a big rectangular hole, of whatever size and shape is deemed necessary, where the lens should be. Give it the necessary light tight fittings to attach to the back of a 35mm camera - SLR or Rangefinder. The Exacta VX IIa with its removable back comes to mind. But any other camera could be attached with the appropriate fittings. It might be necessary to have a lens between the P&S and the film plane of a regular camera to adjust for the film plane location. Perhaps not.
Surely - Ooops- Shirley everyone has seen a 6x6cm roll film back for a 4"x5" Graflex. Same difference.
Voila!
Mickey
