Here in Chico, we were blessed with very favorable viewing conditions for today's eclipse. Unfortunately, I have no suitable equipment to take pictures of it. I had given up on it when I thought of pinhole lenses. So while the eclipse was evolving, I knocked together a very primitive viewing device. Lens Viewing surface The "focal length" ;D of the "lens" worked out to be about 9 feet! I held the "lens" in one hand, with the image focused on the paper, and took pictures of the projection with my Oly Digital P&S in the other. Results: Partial Total Nature's own viewer was interesting Light shining through the leaves, and projecting multiple images on my front wall Totally unscientific, but a heck of a lot of fun! ;D ;D And NO EYE DAMAGE!! I can believe you had a lot of fun. I don't know which is more interesting, your pinhole set up and results or your photos of natures version. That first one of the natures version sure would look good printed. Nice

How about a new thread possibly entitled
DIY
for unconventional, self made photographic aids.
It could be interesting and fun.

Brilliant - the "bokeh" (hate that word) is like that from mirror lenses. Great fun - better than the actual eclipse.

What do they say "Necessity is the mother of all invention". Brilliant, absolutely brilliant shots. Its like a giant mirror ball during the day.
I second Mickey's idea of a DIY section or thread.
