Superb. I have seen fork-like but with the gaps filled in birds before (isn't it daft not being able use the proper name) and I've seen pink flamingos but have seen the pink version of these before.
The whole series is good but #1 for me.

OK,
I have to admit I never attended medical school - or even a first aid class.
What does a hospital retention pool retain other than pink flamingos?

Mickey The EPA requires that when ever you pave over a large piece of land that would normally absorb rainwater, you have to have a way to slow the runoff so it doesn't overwhelm the streams and rivers. A lot of businesses use retention ponds since they can also be incorporated into the landscaping. Flamingos are also naturally white. I understand that the pink color comes from the foods they eat, a certain type of shrimp, I think. Nice shots with the Sony. I would like to get one some day, since I have a few Minolta AF lenses.

That's what they say. There are dolphins in the Amazon that are pink for the same reason.

These are Roseate Spo onbills but the color principle is the same, the iodine content of the food produces the color. Flamingos don't travel this far north.

I always understood that it was carotenoids in the food chain that was the source of the colour. The most obvious this coloured by carotenoids is the carrot. I wonder why we don't see pink rabbits. I'm surprised that flamingos don't travel as far north as you are in the USA. Europe has plenty of resident flamingos in such as the Camargue: pink ones there too. The Camargue is the area of the Rhône Delta in the South of France. It's considerably north (43.5° N) of Florida (30° N). I presume it must have something to do with food availability: it can't be solely climate. map of the range of flamingos:

"...it can't be solely climate"
Take a good look at a flamingo. They never know where they are going because their heads are upside down.
