Also the German ones came in the same values for the lens, F3.5,F2.8, and F2.0 according to Graflex "expert" sites" This was the same ranges as Kowa supplied, and also matches the Kallo ranges, suggesting the same lens in fact, just badge engineered. According to one site the Kallo was also made for US chain store sales and mail order, a practice very common in the 1950's, with Tower, Ritz, Sears, et al..... I can't trace a UK Importer for the Kowa, it may have been Photax, who took the later Kowa66 for a while, then it changed to Photopia. I don't think the Graflex were officially imported at all into the UK, examples may have been sold by US servicemen at the time. The pro large format equipment was imported by Dollands and later Photopia.

Stephen,
Thanks to your wonderful knowledge of photo equipment I know far more about the Graphex 35 than I did yesterday.
The more I learn about a camera the more I can appreciate it.

And that's what camera collecting is all about!!..the dangers are too much of it.....and promoting your own favourites as the best.......genuinely it is often surprising what the older models can do, although often only within the limits of the design, tailoring the shots to what the camera can do well. My knowledge came from using Cameras to record model engineering work, and then selling cameras for many years. working in London gave access to the best shops, at a price. I also worked in camera repairs and scientific instrument and lens making in the 1990's.
