Stephen
Always enjoyed photos of steam powered locomotives and tractors. I am a bit jealous of people living in the UK as there seems to be a fair amount of interest in preserving and displaying operating examples of those things. Thanks for posting those.

Excellent Stephen.
Are you posting the thumbnails because it means that unregistered people can't access the full size photo or have you not clicked onto the other method of posting?
Bob. This could be your (my) lucky day. Malpas Steam Fair is on!

Couple more shots from the Steam ploughing, the cable hauls the plough, and is as fast as a modern tractor! Two engines are used, the plough is double ended to give instant turnaround at the end of each pull. Periflex camera scanned neg Periflex camera scanned neg

Using Photobucket now, the Forum is different to another I used, which took multiple inserted pictures in the posting. Every forum seems different. some seem quite bizarre in the way they are set up. Overall I find this forum to be fairly good. Some steam photos coming up later. I didn't get round to the tractors and farming implements, other than the odd one or two.

I tried to post the traction engine full size but it was too big, so I shrunk it a little:

Stepehn, I've just posted some more of the "model" machines on a new thread - full size machines and a few other things later.

Not quite Steam, but yesterday at the Brook Museum Pumping Station at Chatham in Kent, re-opened again after serious building subsidence, the two vintage Crossley Gas oil engines that powered the station till electric pumps took over. Taken on a Digital camera I am afraid, an Olympus VR 310/D-720 bought s/hand on ebay for £15, it was said to be faulty, would not turn off, a faulty switch, easy to cure. The 24mm equivalent super wide lens is the attraction, and saves carrying an SLR around. Stephen.

Don't be sorry for posting a digital picture. It has been twenty years since the first digital cameras appeared, now they are reaching collectable status, too. I bought an Olympus C-700 for $5, popped in some batteries and it works. It was a very expensive camera when new. It is only 2.1 megapixel, but good for internet posting.

The other mirror fashion engine of the pair that did the water pumping at Chatham A hot air engine from Fremlins Brewery, powered purely by heat, no boiler or combustion, it heat air and expands, then contracts on cooling, and the cycle repeats itself, known as the Sterling Cycle. On display at the Brook, fully working at the time, running on scrap wood. Olympus D-720/VR 310 24/240 zoom compact.
