I went by a few years ago, in March. It's often foggy there, close to the woods and backwaters of the Mississippi.

Hansz,
Lovely photo.
The central tree has an appropriately mournful face.

Don't get me wrong ... both are fantastic pictures ... but I never felt any attraction to this kind of place. We have to be there early ... and long enough

O.K. So at St. Donatus, Iowa, a little town near Dubuque, founded by Belgian stone masons in the early 1800s.

Looks like Clint Eastwood should be passing through.

Looks like Clint Eastwood should be passing through. They was my thought too. This might turn into a monumental thread. Excellent photos so far. I've a few I can share, but I need to dig them up.

I'm enjoying this thread -- is that the right word? -- anyway, some great shots here by everyone. I took this one in Colma, which is where all the cemeteries are. We don't have any inside San Francisco city limits, except for a small cemetery at Mission Dolores. My wife lost her best friend Carol many years ago and wasn't sure where she was buried. We just recently re-located Carol's burial place at this cemetery.

The US cemetaries seems to be much larger, the graves distinctly more separated than in crowded NL. Hans

Just to set the record straight there are no cemetaries. There are cemeteries.
