Acquired for no actual cash, free in return for threading a shaft in the workshop for a neighbour, a F2 17mm-200mm C Mount Zoom lens.
I have shied away from buying these ex-TV lenses, they are sometimes incapable of covering the image sensor in 4/3 cameras like the OM Pen series, at the wide end. Also may have electric motor driven irises or focus etc.,
This one is a bit different, it has a C mount, but a smaller back surround, so easier to mount on the micro 4/3 adaptors.
The range on 4/3 would be doubled to 34mm to 400mm equivalent in 35mm terms, at F2.
It has an auto electric diaphragm, with a lead, but has a nice manual override knob, which adjusts the iris from F2 to F22, then complete closure. The lead and plug can be removed and the hole left, fitted with a rubber plug grommet.
There is no maker marked, just made in Japan, but it resembles a Pentax TV camera lens on the net. Pentax had a factory that specialised in making these C mount lenses, and they were often un-branded, with just a sticker for the camera maker being added. The other possible maker is Fuji.
It is in good optical condition, all controls work very smoothly indeed, it has a bit of external corrosion to the black finish on the aperture housing, but it will clean up nicely and can be re-sprayed satin black.
It will need testing on a C mount converter, and of course I can't find mine anywhere, so ordered a new spare one!! ...in the meantime a clean up and some shots of it, and a quick temporary mount made to test it.
Stephen.

Looks like it is a Canon made lens, it's somewhat odd that no name is etched on the front. The mechanisms all work fine, manual iris is fitted and operated via the knob, manual zoom and focus. I have lost my C mount for the 4/3 camera, ordered a new one, which will certainly mean I will find the old one in the morning. Putting it in a temporary mount, it focuses to infinity, and shows slight vignetting only at the widest setting. The corrosion is only to the anodised black finish on the auto iris housing it has not gone deep and can be re-sprayed with satin black cellulose paint. A nice fast lens at F2 aperture, and gives an effective 204mm F2 on micro 4/3 format. Stephen.
