A filter set for the Gimp which produces a false colour etch from B/W, with decorative edges for use in Christmas Cards. The shot was a spare of Rochester Cathedral to play with the 5 step digital process, now to find a suitable Christmas subject! Stephen.

I don't like The Gimp ( can you say that in these PC times ? ) but that is an interesting filter. I've got some good winter scenes but when I tried them on a card they just didn't look right. I shall make friends with The Gimp.

I am sure both of you will get it right. I think many winter scenes are spoiled in Photoshop and other - what do you call them - Manipulators? - because too many photographers think that snow is white. It ain't necessarily so. Just looking out my windows i have seen pinks, reds, oranges, blues, yellows and in between shades. Snow is highly reflective and will pick up colours from many sources. My car will turn the snow in my driveway blue in bright sunlight and mauve on a cloudy day. Snow is rarely white. Have a look. And brace yourself. It's coming. Mickey
