I have recently collected a number of different manual Yashica C/Y bodies and lenses. I have tried to find out if the autofocus lenses definitely cannot be fitted to these bodies. The answer from most authorities seems to be that they cannot. But I am not completely clear on this. Also are there any adaptors to fit them to any make of digital camera without problems? Again, difficult to find out.

I've normally found with things (those other than cameras as well) that there is a certain amount of regurgitation of the initial pronouncement on a subject. Often the only way is to try it and see. The problem is that there are some situations when this theory goes wrong: such as lenses that fit a camera body perfectly, except that a pin on the linkage of one drops into a screw hole of the other and the lens is then "permanently" attached. That is to say the original wisdom was, in fact correct. I know nothing about the Yashicas, mind you.

I bought a Yashica 230 AF body very cheap as a non- runner hoping that possibly the seller had been mistaken. Unfortunately the body works, for focusing but the wind-on and shutter don't work. Strange that the bodies of the AF series are so plasticky looking and poor whilst the AF lenses look and feel so good. I assume it was the takeover by Kyocera that made the difference in a negative way.
