So in my intro I think I mentioned that I collect cameras that my Great-Grandfather sold in his store in the late 1940s. I have a few (3 total) photos of his store and several adverts he placed in the local newspaper at the time. I believe he actually had a different store in Torrance, Ca for a short time before opening up this store with his brother and a businesses partner (of whom I know nothing) in Long Beach, Ca. He sold used gear as well as Agfa Ansco, Zeiss and a few others based on the ads. I can't identify all of the cameras in these photos but I've figured quite a few of them out. I thought it would be fun to share these photos. Attachment DeletedAttachment DeletedAttachment Deleted

Interesting stuff, Joe. I wonder how much of that stock is still in circulation. I wonder too, if anything they sold has found its way back to you. It would be good if that were so.

I have an article from 1948 stating that about $2,000.00 worth of gear was stolen from the shop which must have hurt. Every time I buy an old camera or see an old camera bag I keep an eye out for any paperwork that might have been from his shop. Without serial numbers it'd be impossible to know if I actually managed to snag one that he sold though that would be awesome. Attachment Deleted

At least the burglar knew who to beat up for disturbing him. No doubt, somewhere in police files, there will be the serial numbers of the items stolen.

Yeah, I've looked for the police files and nobody knows who would have them or if they even exist anymore.

Roy, from this forum, was in the police in California (at least I think Ca). I wonder if he has the files.
