The world of aviation, and aerobatics in particular, lost one of its foremost members today. 77 year old Eddie Andreini was lost in the crash of his Super Stearman while performing his signature inverted ribbon cutting maneuver at Travis Air Force Base in California during the "Thunder over Solano" air show. It was my privilege to see Eddie perform several times here in Chico, and talk with him at our museum. He was the consummate gentleman and performer, who lived to fly. Roy, I recall your "upside down" photo from a while back. I remember thinking that it looked dangerous and might have said that at the time. He was probably someone who preferred to go out with a bang rather than a whimper. RIP.
