Trough the years i've been attemting to get my canon 35mm reflex collection complete, with the aquisition of the FP only recently i guess i could say that i've got them all starting with the canonflex R 2000 and ending with the T90 (or T60 if you care to call it a real canon) and evrything inbetween. Now the A1 has always been a bit of a trouble as i bought a few but there was allways something wrong with them. Yesterday though i got lucky, i've found the ultimate A1 with a 50mm 1.4 and a 100-200 canon zoom the 50 has some haze on the front element the zoom is infested with fungus the A1 body is in like new and working condition and even has film in it! What's even greater than all this is that i've paid 4 (yes four !) euros for the set at our local charity shop, this really makes up for all the other A1's for wich i've paid to much. Here's a pic of what i've got toghether af A1's the 4 euro cheapo in front with the zoom on it ( a fungus free example)

You lucky bar steward. I've had three and none of 'em ever worked.

The earlier AE-1 had Ferranti electronic "design programmable" chips, not totally reliable, maybe the A-1 used them as well. Stephen

The A1 is still a competent camera, if working. Many of the Canons have been neglected by the owner, therefore in a sad condition. I have an AE-1, never had a bad exposure from that camera. If taken care of, only electronic failure would stop them from working, as they are mechanical devices otherwise. Canon Fd lenses also can compete today, it is high quality optic. The lenses are quite affordable these days, a 200 2.8 for little more than $100.

I sold AE1's and never saw a bad 'un. Never sold an A1 though despite there being a £50 bonus (more then my take home pay then)

Nice set, Francois, I have 2 A-1's, both in good working order, although both needs service to get rid of the sqeaks... But that is too expensive, so I just wait and find myself a mint one, like yours. At this moment a A-1 is loaded with film and has the same 3,5/35-105 lens as yours. I like that lens!

I'm selling one for a friend who has dementia, complete with a bunch of lenses. It's a very nice kit. I'll PM the list.

Wow! Well done on getting an A1 for 4 Euro, I've just paid forty eight pounds for a reasonable one with a 50mm fd lens and I thought that was okay! I have a well battered AV-1 thats taken some great photos, and still keeps going. Its become my old faithful, for trips out at events etc. :-)

I bought the one Lloydy was offering. He even cured it of its cough and delivered it. Great service and a lovely camera to hold and use. I remember going to the launch of this camera in 1980. I wanted one ever since. It only took 35 years or so!!
