I am no Minolta collector, but like those cameras a lot. Came from a japanese seller on aution, $25, may be too much. In very good operational condition, no light meter. Good external condition as well. "Chiyoda Kogaku" on top housing, is it a japanese edition. I might have to get a real Minolta lens, 58/1.4 in the future. Lens on pic is Yashinon on m42 Minolta adapter. A note about japanese sellers: They tend to describe what they sell in a worse condition that it in fact is, also they treat their equipment more gentle it seems. I bought a Nikkor-H as spares/faulty, it worked perfectly, only a minor dent on the filter rim. Hmm..

Truls, I have one bought new in Sweden in 1963. There were apparently 6 updates within less than 12 months, so they seem to have been in a hurry to get it out. Mine is the sixth version. Compared to yours, I have the number on the right and "MINOLTA CAMERA CO. LTD." on the left (reverse to yours), rectangular frame counter on the right (not round on the left), and a different film reminder on the back (scales go right round, ASA white and DIN red). My meter holder is slimmer. Your accessory shoe is a later addition. Mine hasn't been used since the 1970s, and I found the shutter is sticking on the very slow slow speeds. There's a bayonet mount in the eyepiece for various magnifiers and angle finder.
PS. That yours is an earlier version is also shown by the number, mine is 2042999.

Hmmm, you've got me admiring that fine camera. You got it for about the right price for body only. Nice.

My first modern SLR was one of those. No way can I recall the version or serial number. Been about 50 years. Had a normal lens, a telephoto (my first), and I think a wide angle. Used it with the first SLR I had, a Hexacon. This was light years better. Dave

I think in that time, as cameras was a lifetime investment, they made them to last for a long time. If given some service now and then, only mechanical wear and lack of replace parts would make them useless. I love those old designs.
