This weekend i went for my yearly visit to autoworld in Brussels, i wasn't planning on photographing anything as i've been there so many times. Still i had my pocket camera along and just couldn't resist taking some pics. Here's a partial overview of the museum : And here's one of our Belgium made (road legal!) cars on display it's the Gillet Vertigo, it used to be the fasted accelerating (series build road legal)car in the world with a time of just under 3 seconds from 0 to 100 Km/h

A great museum. Why is there a giraffe in a car museum?? The giraffe is there as part of a display with the Africa theme, to keep the museum interesting enough for people to come back they change the displays every now and then, this time there was a special about dutch DAF cars, a special about race cars that featured in comic books (in this case , Michel Valliant wich is a fictional race pilot, in fact the comics were first, then they've decided to make the racers for real and race them). Then there was the theme on old racers in the paddock with porches, Maserati's and the D type in a set up and so on...( even a giraffe ) The Michel Valliant formula racer The D type

OMG the D type - sex on wheels. But this is my favourite classic car of all time. If they had a Duesenberg SJ supercharged at your museum I'd come to look at it. I have never seen one for real. It is power and class in one.

It is power and class in one. I think the gaudy two tone red paint job detracts from the inherent beauty of the car. It looks like somebody had a couple of spare bottles of nail polish. The darker colour alone would lift it from commonplace to sublime. Mickey

I kind of agree Mickey but its the only good photo that, for me, shows what I love about it. The Beauty AND Beast.

belgiumreporter, Here is an example of how too many colours can degrade the lines of a classic vehicle. I suppose whitewalls might improve it a bit. Mickey

Mickey we had a car coloured like that we called it the flying $hite, because it was two-tone - rust and brown.

Beautiful mickey, a milticoloured flying $hite. My stepdads father had a Humber Sceptre, an early 60's luxury car. Used on his farm, it ended up looking like this. He covered up all the rust in the late 70's with pale blue emulsion paint applied with a 4 inch brush. Lovely.
