ASd is like being stuck in the past in that the hard drive becomes full and the brain can't delete and add more appropriate/useful input. This is the only way I can describe it. From birth to 10 years it has all been assimilated, though with glitches outside mainstream. From 10, 1957, it becomes increasingly unreal, taking years for something to be almost 'real' though everything is out of phase and vaque. Snapshots help with this especially as 'memory' which is 'stored pictures' as opposed to equally prominent 'now pictures' and 'dream pictures' is fragmented and out of sequence.
The Sony A35 helps with this in that it takes my old Minolta lenses with familiar mount and has an EVF, which, whilst not so great in bright sunlight, has one advantage over the back to basics, A290 DSLR in that I can set an aperture or shutter speed, and by turning one wheel can adjust aperture or shutter and view the approximate expectation in the eye level finder. This creates instant control over the required exposure, overriding the camera's programme especially against the light.
I find that I have returned to using a 35mm prime [ nom 50mm ] and a kind of semi manual control which I became used to with my Minolta SRTs and Prinzflex STTL before that.

Hi Dee, I understand that 1 in 100 have ASD, Thats 1% of the population - over half a million in the UK. I wonder how many don't get diagnosed.
I'm glad that photography helps you. Photographs must be a very important part of your life. I know its important that you feel comfortable while enjoying your hobby as any deviation from the familiar messes things up. The Sony / Minolta compatibility must be a great help.
Sony/Minolta kept the AF system the same - like Canon, there are a lot of great lenses out there. A friend of mine has 70 AF lenses all made for the Minolta Dynax system which he uses on his Sonys. I wouldnt have thought there were that many!
Canon, like Minolta changed their mount when they went electronic making lots of great, traditional lenses redundant. BAD! Nikon and Pentax kept the same mount ensuring a backward compatibility GOOD!...But Nikon changed their AF system for the crop sensor cameras - BUMMER! If the old AF system and metering capability with Ai lenses is still good for the demanding pro, why change it for the amateur? Phil
