Hello! Jarl here. Glad to be part of this site. My primary interest with collecting cameras: vintage, entirely manual specimens of any format. I am not too interested in collecting electronic/automatic/digital subjects though...unless be they Polaroid types. But that is as motorized as I care to get. I have a small but charming(to me) collection now. I'll get around to showing what I have and hope to get in the future. I took photography in high school many years ago and took it up again a few years after graduation, but not in any professional manner, just personal enrichment. What got me to collect cameras? When a young boy at home, we had a Welta/Weltini and a Yashica Super-825 floating around. I was intently fascinated with them. Somehow, they survived and ended up with me...gladly. But over the years, they became the springboard for my continued interest.
Aside from cameras, I collect vintage hand tools (to use) and musical instruments (to play). I have numerous hobbies (notably making music, building things, metal detecting, history, finding excuses to research and learn something etc.) and am an incessant tinkerer and thinker.
That's it...for now.
Jarl

Good morning Jarl and welcome to the forum. I must compliment you on your excellent introduction. It summarized your interests well.
I'm a collector of what I find as interesting cameras made through the 1950's. My interest is to explore their history, repair and preserve them. My photography is almost exclusively digital, though.
Feel free to create new threads, resurrect old ones, and jump in any existing threads of interest.

Hi Jarl. As David said, an excellent introduction. Welcome to the site. I hope you don't have too much trouble uploading photos! Ask for help if you do.
My collection started when an ex-girlfriend gave me a box of cameras belonging to her late father. All made in 1957, my birth year, that is the core of my collection. In addition to that I am collecting pre autofocus Canon and Minolta SLR bodies and lenses - including electronic ones and anything that catches my eye and is cheap.

Thank you, David, Phil, Hans and Wayne, for the welcomes and intros. Thanks for the compliments too.
David, my interest too, repair and restore. Phil, I will holler if I have trouble with the site in any way. Hans, at this point in my collection I do not. But if any come my way, I will let you know. Wayne, Thanks!

Jari,
Welcome to the CC.
You seem to be one very busy and involved person.
You'll like it here.
It is called The Camera Collector but anything goes. Okay, almost anything.

Hello!
Thanks, Ron and Mickey. I am certain that I will learn a lot from all of you. As for my busyness...yeah, aside from work I am always doing something. Now, if only I could FINISH something, THAT would be ideal. So anything goes? Hehe! I like the camaraderie here.
