We just returned from Palm Springs, California, where we always check out various thrift shops. I found an operating Konica Autoreflex TC in beautiful shape, working fine with a Konica Hexanon 50mm f1.7 lens, a Vivitar 75-205mm f3.8 lens which appears to be in good shape and, strangely, with three teleconverters, 2 2x and one 3x, all of which fit the Konica.. I've bought a lot of used cameras, and some had teleconverters, but never 3! At $30 for all, including the manuals, a filter or two, a case and a gadget bag, I certainly can't complain. But I am puzzled.

Funny, but I bought a Canon outfit with similar content and yes 3 tc's too. x Vivitar and a unitor all 2x. In the old days of photography amateurs were obsessed with getting the longest from a lens and converters were a cheap way to do it. Of course loss of light and image quality were a price to pay but 3 tcs is extreme it would make the Vivitar a the 75-205 a 900 - 2430 wow! I wondered what a photo would be like through 3 converters so here are mine thru a vivitar 70-200 (600-1600) Well here it is. first normal range 70-200. Then with all 3 TC's. split to show the effect of auto contrast in photoshop. The last one is a full aperture equivalent of f32

Your answer makes good sense. I tend toward wide angles since we do a lot of traveling. I am concerned that hooking up all those converters together would put too much weight on the lens mount. But, since I won't be setting them up that way, I don't have that worry. Thanks for the demo, Phil. Dave
