Strange camera, never heard of it. Is it rare and collectible, or more common?

The Aruba II is extremely scarce. Though not valuable, according to McKeowns who value it at $50-$75. If you can get one it will be a fine addition to your collection. McKeowns only entry is text, no photos. No photos of the Nihon Seiki Nescon either

Please correct me if I'm wrong but it appears that the last Mckewons came out in 2006 and there is no plan for an update. That makes the info in it very questionable.

Only the values are out dated in the Mckeowns, the useful references to models are still valid. They say part of the reason no equivalent or an up date is Ebay, it confuses the market to much, selling non working collectors items at inflated prices, or selling unknown stuff at low prices. Stephen

I have two copies, the 2006 and the earlier one 2001-2002. Both give the same info on the camera in question and its derivatives.
The prices quoted in the 2006 are a good indicator of price even in today's market. It's not possible that everyone selling/buying camera gear is using it as reference.
I was talking to a collector camera dealer, and he was telling me that many rare items don't have that much value. Value depends on how desirable it is. Some cameras are just not that desirable. It depends on the brand.

Darn it. The camera slipped, due to delay in Paypal transaction. Well, I got the Picture anyway... Will follow if the seller relist. Could be fun having a rare camera, even if it's not much worth.

I have an account at Photobucket - I upload pictures to there, then put the IMG link in my post here.

A common mistake in all kinds of collectables is to confuse rarity with value. Here's an example : The original 1959 canonflex was only made for 5 months with an output of 17.000 units, it's rival the 1959 nikon F was produced for over a decade with an output of around 1.000.000 units, One could say the canonflex is some 57 times more rare than the F, still both fetch around the same price in auctions( the early F's worth even more) So indeed desirabillity has to be taken into account when talking about value. On the other hand the black canonflex RP of wich only 75 are made goes for about 5 times the price of an F so here we got rarity and desirability in one package. And then there's the oddballs and the hyped, interesting camera's for a number of reasons, prices on those can be anything collectors at one moment are willing to pay , but as times and fashion changes, prices for the same item can vary a lot (positive or negative). McKeowns can be a guide, but never the last word on exact values.

I am puzzled by the reference to Bolta film in that McKeown scan.
Is it Japanese for 35mm?

The new McKeown's Camera Guide should be coming out soon. First time in years. Should be around $300+ for a Hard Cover version or around $100+ for an on-line version you can access. Too rich for my blood either way.
