When I became a member of this site about a year ago I only had one old camera, Minolta SRT SC-II. Since then I have gotten more. So I will list some of my collection. Not all are SLR's but still nice cameras. I just hope I am collecting some good ones. I will add photos soon and give more info on each.
Minolta SRT SC-II 1977, free Minolta SRT 101 (black knob) 1968, $12.00 Minolta SR 101 (SRT 201) 1975-77,on it's way(-:, $18.10 Minolta SR 1 1963,free Agfa Ambi Silette 1961, broken)-: $5.00 Ansco Memar (Agfa Silette) 1953-54, free Graflex Century 35A,free

The Minolta SR/SRT series were typical of the era - robust and reliable shooters. Minolta lenses are probably the most underrated of the big 4 - Canon, Minolta, Nikon and Pentax. This link showing the timeline might be of interest if you didn't already know - Minolta SLR's vs. Canon, Nikon & Pentax

lesdmess: All my Minoltas are in working condition. Some with minor problems. The only Minolta I have that don't work is a Minolta X9. I suspect a capacitor problem.

I think you certainly have a great start. Have you decided what you want to see in your collection? I have always looked at what the purpose of a collection will be. A series of models that tell the story of how designs evolved over years, for instance. Your Minoltas may be doing that. The story of the SR1 and SR2, and the variants of the SR1 form an interesting story.
Also I wanted to ask about lenses. Minoltas were very special lenses compared with most of the other manufacturers of the era. Minolta designed and performed the process from the composition of the molten glass through to the machining of the lens mounts. What lenses are on the Minoltas that you have?
When a collector acquires a camera, other collectors will often turn to her or him for information regarding that camera. Details of designs, problems that were encountered, accomplishments, disasters and failures, are all stories that the collectors preserves as an historian. You will notice that when someone posts an image of a camera or lens it is often followed by others with stories about those pieces. Together with your own research, that is how you build a knowledge base on your collection and you preserve that and pass it along accompanied by the cameras, lenses and accessories that all together tell a story.

David: I have a Minolta SR1. It does have the same film advance and rewind as the first year SR7. The SR7 with no cut off from 1962. I'm just guessing mine is a SR1 from 63. My quick story on collecting is. Back a couple years ago the oldest Minoltas I was aware of was the XG line and after. I saw my first SRT and went after it. The look of the SRT just caught my eye and I was hooked. I do collect other Minolta's and other brand cameras. I enjoy chrome cameras of several brands. So you could say its a chrome thing but Minoltas are my favorite. I do enjoy the Rokkor lenses even the Celtic's. Lenses are what I need more of now. By the way this is a great site on asking how to fix camera issues. The members are always helpful.

I have a small collection of Rokkors and love using them on my Sonys. I liked Canons too, the early ones and I have a collection of those too.

philbirch: I do like the Sony brands. They have carried on the Minolta name sake. Even though the A7 is an E mount that is a beautiful model. Also like the DSLR A77. But I know with the right adapters the Rokkors will fit. Wish I could afford one them nice Sony's

Ah, my Sonys are the mirrorless: Nex 5 and A6000, I can use any lens with the appropriate adaptor. The SLT cameras can only use SR mount lenses with a lensed adapter - which will lose image quality

I would like to post some photos of some of my collection. Funny thing is I cant upload any on here. How do I upload photos? I need some help with this. You have to have a host (fototime, flickr, others) with the ability to provide links to your photos first. After you have uploaded your image and assigned a link to it, then you simply click the "insert image" icon and then enter your weblink to the image in the dialog box.
