The black ones were less conspicuous, e.g. for nature photography. The chrome cameras could catch and reflect the sun, attracting attention.
Over the years, chrome or polished aluminium lenses, or chrome details like rings, have disappeared.
The very late Ihagee Exaktas had glued on name plates, especially when the name was challenged and they started having new names like Elbaflex. The glued plates would often fall off. I have an anonymous RT1000.

I consciously acquired the black FG but I am sure the chrome came with something interesting but I don't recall what it was . . .
