When i went to pick up a elinchrome flash wich i bought from the net, the guy from wich i bought it asked me if i perhaps was interested in a "old" camera. Now this question allways works for me, nodded and said " yes as a matter of fact i do". Well, he said i'll throw this bag with a camera in to the deal you can get it for free, i need to clean up the house. He handed me over the bag, i could briefly see there was some olympus gear inside, not wanting to seem ungratefull i took the bag and said OK thanks, i won't be taking up more of your time ( as he was quite busy moving furniture and boxes down the stairs) i'll have a look at it when i get home, maybe there's some usefull stuff inside. When i got home and put evrything togheter what was in the bag, i ended up with this: This pic was made with the elinchrome flash i've just bought set up with the white reflective umbrella. The light still is to hard for this type of photography , i'll need to switch to the "flash trough" white umbrella to soften the light somewhat more. Or else haul down my godard 2 softbox set up from the attic. The stuff in the bag turned out to be a olympus OM10 with manual adapter, 50mm1.8, sigma 35-70 2.8-4 zoom , panagor 135-2,8, power bounce grip 2 and a series cokin filters everything in good shape. When i hooked up the winder everything just worked so even the batterys were OK ! Oh and there was a garage sale near by in wich my wife found some dirt cheap garden ornaments, so she was happy to! This 170Km trip turned out very nice, i think i've recovered the fuel cost... Sometimes you get lucky

apart from the occasional electronic failures, the OM10 was a cracking camera, as it produced as good, or better shots than the OM-1. The better where when exposure was better than the basic TTL on the OM-1, and "as good" is obvious, they are the same lenses as the pro camera. The only issue for customers was that it was an inexpensive camera, but took very expensive glass! So most were used with secondary lens suppliers and the Olympus was somewhat underrated, an unfair judgement. Stephen.

I had an OM10 bought as a 'service exchange' in 1980 from the shop I worked in. I used it about sixteen or seventeen years then traded it for an OM40. Big mistake. The OM40 was dead within a year. Cheap yes, but a great camera to use and a superb 50mm zuiko lens..

I bought a really nice OM 1 about 3 years ago, still have it and have used it from time to time. In the meantime I have bought at least four OM 10 with Zuiko lenses on ebay for resale, only because they were really inexpensive, one cost me less than £1, when I tested them with film I really liked them and do not understand why they are so cheap, I suppose because that they were sold in enormous numbers, in the UK at least. I would quite happily use an OM10 as a main film camera.(If I didn't have so much Nikon stuff!)

A fortnight ago I found a nice OM-10 at my local car boot sale, with a nice clean Miranda 28mm lens and the manual adapter. The ERC was especially nice so I kept it for my OM-1, which it almost fits (the flash mount does rub on the top.). I put batteries in it and it works. Cost £8. Sold it yesterday for £25.
I told a friend about the OM 10 after I had sold it and he said that he was looking for an OM -1 or an OM -10. I looked at prices on ebay and was quite surprised at how much people were getting for an average condition OM - 10. A year ago you could get one for under £10 if you tried hard enough, about 3 years ago I bought a good one for 0.91p (seller's mistake!) now they are £25-40. I suspect that people want them for the Zuiko lens.

Seem to have got quite a few OMs over the years, 3 chrome OM10s, one black OM10 Quartz (data back model), couple of OM20s and pride of my Olympus collection a OM1n. Most I paid was £27 for the OM1n, the rest were under a tenner. I think prices on evil bay are going up because of demand for the lenses not the camera, it is becoming all too common a sight at flea markets to see slrs with no lenses, the lenses have been sold on evil bay and the body is going to the carboot or into the bin. So I go along and rescue the bodies and match them up with lenses from the collection. My Spotty F is currently displayed with a Meyer Optik Domiplan because I don't have any spare Takumars. Matty
