Hi everyone,
My name is Martin and I'm in Austria. I'm accumulating cameras more than collecting. I always had a hang for those "normal" cameras. Cameras that people could afford (including me when buying them used). Cameras that really shot probably 80% of our memories. Of course some of them got iconic - like the Argus C3 (not so much our side of the pond, though). So anyway, that's how I started. By now I have a fair amount of cameras of all types. From 1910ish LF cameras to last generation film cameras. I think I got most of the major types covered, except press cameras. Anyway, all bought with the intention of using them I fear it will never come to that.
So that's very much me.
Best regards to all of you Martin in Austria

Welcome Martin, to this forum. All kinds of collectors here (and knowledge too!). When you shoot a roll every 2 (to 3) weeks you should come a long way using your equipment (anyway, that is what I do). From your description you got a nice collection, please share with us.

Thanks you for the warm welcome, Hans. Yes, I agree, doing as you said would get me shooting all of of them in a fair amount of time. I do not buy cameras at that speed. Well, there's a few nice cameras in my heap - but I have to admit I'm lazy with recording them on photo. (I have digital as well, so it should really not be that much of a problem. I'll try to include one pic: Best regards Martin

Servus Martin
Nice Box, my collection also started as accumulation of cameras I used or got from friends and family because they knew that I'm addicted to old technical stuff.
Then there was a post on G+ of a person who started to use one camera of his collection per month. I liked that idea and started using my old cameras again after some digital years. While using my old cameras again I found in Willhaben and eBay that now some of my unaffordable dream cameras of the 80ies and 90ies could be bought for real small money now. This was the change form accumulation to collection ;-) An important rule when buying a new camera is that it must be working and I would really use it in not to far away future.
When I use I camera I also shoot some pics from the camera and add it to my G+ or Flickr page. But it will take some time till I'm through using all at least once.

Hi Martin, nice camera, smiley!! A good idea by Hannes, using one camera every month. I tend to stick to one until I get tired of it. But yeah - sounds like a good idea. Perhaps we ought to have a thread on this...

Hi Hannes and philbirch,
yes sounds like a good idea. But, alas, I have some favourites among my cameras - the ones I can trust when taking them on a holiday. Two of my favourite shooters are my Carena SX-300 - a Shanghai made Minolta x-300, really and my Olympus XA. I also have some digital cameras by now. Their prices drop a lot faster than of the others. A Canon G2 for example or an Olympus Camedia C-5050. Also two M 4/3 cameras with lots of cheap adapters for my old glass. Anyway, I will try to shoot the more neglected ones as suggested. Thanks and regards Martin

I fully agree on taking reliable cameras on holiday - at home, roaming the country I love to take unproven equipment with me. Most of the times they surprise me with the quality of the photographs. Sometimes they don't and thus can be sold... Like the lady of the house says: one in, one out:-)
Maybe I need disasters to satisfy my GAS...

I do very much the same, Hans. But it seems I'm not roaming the country enough. At least I managed to finish a roll of film which I loaded last year in my Hi-Matic 11 this summer. I'm still a bit slow on the "out" part of one in one out. Anyway, mailman just brought me an Olympus mju: metal - beautyful and looks like new. Regards Martin in Austria

Anybody else got a camera as happy faced as the Ferrania? or an exceedingly grumpy looking one?
Stephen.

At least he has two legs, Mickey, so no need to be grumpy about them when most have only one, tell him that.

At least he has two legs, Mickey, so no need to be grumpy about them when most have only one, tell him that. I took your advice and told him. He lost his temper and demanded 3 legs. Now he wants a tripod. Poor guy. I feel sorry for him though. Notice how he is blushing? That is permanent. Mickey

beautiful camera Mickey.. love the old folders and that one looks to be in exceptional condition I'm afraid I cheat, started with the idea of taking at least a couple of shots with each camera I buy but that idea went out the window with the need to cut down films and make photo paper plates for others... Digitals are so much simpler for everyday use Bob

Digitals are so much simpler for everyday use Bob How right you are, Bob. I have plenty of cameras that I would like to try with film or even paper negatives. But the cost of film, paper and chemicals in Toronto is prohibitive. So may they RIP. I have become very fond of digital, its ease of use and absence of concern about the cost of each shot. However, I think I made better pictures with film as I spent far more more time and took more care with each shot. Mickey
