Have just taken delivery of my 'new' Ricoh TLS-401 the latest in a long line of Ricoh cameras.. seems to be in great condition and working as new....

its a little unusual in that it has a slide on top which allows focusing looking down from on top of camera (something I've not seen before on SLRs around this vintage).. the viewing port is too small to be used from waist level more as if its just a simpler way of focusing while using a tripod.. switch on the side of the prism switches between viewing angles

I think it was more than unusual, but a viewfinder feature unique to Ricoh. It was designed to work on tripods, and in lab uses, rather than general photography. The Camera was a general improvement over the previous models and has a Copal Square shutter and reliable mechanisms. Not bad condition for a 1970's camera. Stephen

Got far too many Ricohs as they were and are a favourite of mine. I have the TLS 401 as well as the Ricoh/Sears/Mamiya and Nikon version of the Singlex originally made by Mamiya.
