Just arrived. This Contina cost me £7 - Shutter, aperture works, the wind-on and focusing is very smooth but it smelt horribly of smoked tobacco product, the worst ever, but it was comparatively free of that yellow-brown tar that covers a smoker's camera. I have given it a wipe over with mild detergent and a damp cloth and hope for the best. The odorous ERC has been banished to the garage, where it hangs in shame. There was an exposed modern Kodak film in it but it was very difficult to rewind so I opened the back up and scrapped the film. Even the exposure meter works and seems accurate. I think I'll keep it for display only.

The Contina III with changeable front lens. You can mount a Pantar 30mm and 75mm in stead of the 45mm. Can you give me the Camera serial number please? It is embossed in the leatherette on the back side. Hans. PS you should try to shoot a roll with it..

Hello Hansz, the serial number is V 8804. I might use it, but I will probably have to remove the exposed film in a changing bag. It still smells............

You can remove the tobacco odour by putting the camera in a big Ziplock bag along with a container of baking soda. Make sure to keep the two items separated. Every few days give the baking soda a gentle stir. It may take days or weeks but the odour will go. Mickey
