Just wondering if anyone has any information on this camera?
It seems to be widely acknowledged that there was a Solinette and a Solinette II, but there are no details available for the first camera.
The only user manual I can find is for the Solinette II, and this specifies that it had an Apotar lens and Prontor SV shutter.
From looking at photos, I can only find Solinette IIs, and see that they came with an Apotar/SV, Apotar/SVS, and Solinar/Compur lens/shutter combinations.
Elsewhere, I've found a reference to a German book that says there was a Solinette, and Solinette II, each with 4 sub-models. My research is finding more information gaps rather than plugging them. Of course, this book could be wrong: retrospectives often are!
My questions are:
1. If there were four sub-models, what was the likely missing lens/shutter combination?
and
2. Does anyone have any information on the Solinette: did it even really exist?

Well what do you know ... I've found the answer.
There was a Solinette (I for the purposes of clarity) ... in fact there were five of them: a 50mm Apotar in a Prontor SV, and SVS, a 45mm color Apotar in an SVS (for export to the USA), a 45mm Solinar in a Synchro-Compur, and a 50mm Solinar in a Compur RMXV.
If all Solinettes were photographed in the closed position, it would be easier to tell whether it was an "original" or a II, but they are not.

I have a Solinette but would not know if I or II. For some reason I have it as II. Apotar 3.5/50 in Prontor. Here: A very nice handy little 35mm folder. Just like a junior Isolette.

The Solinette II says "Solinette" with a Roman "II" underneath on the front of the folding cover. I've never seen what it says on the cover of a Solinette (I). I haven't been able to find a picture on the Internet, so it would be really good if someone has one, and can post a photo.
Yes, these are nice little cameras.

I have a Solinette II with a Apotar f3.5 50mm lens with a Prontor SV shutter. Paid £10 for it.

I'm still hoping someone will be able to post pictures of a Solinette (I).

This sure looks like the ANSCO REGENT sold here in the USA. Perhaps you can learn something about the Agfa models by studying Ansco literature? Do let us know what you find. Best, George

George - Already examined the Ansco Regent's instruction manual, according to which it only came with the same Apotar/SV lens/shutter combination as detailed in the Agfa Solinette manual.
I just find it weird that there were five "model I" Solinettes, but there doesn't seem to be any pictures of them on the Net.
Mickey - I'm a camera-wiki editor ... someone's gotta do it!

Five models - were those different combinations of lens and shutter?

I have the exact same Solinette I Apotar SV. I was wondering what the worth is since it is less common.
Can you link the manual for the II? I'm still trying to figure it out!

The link to the Solinette II (Apotar/SV) instruction manual is ... www.cameramanuals.org/agfa_ansco/agfa_solinette_ii.pdf. If you have a Solinette (I), please can you post pictures of it, especially if you can spot any differences between yours and the one illustrated in the manual. I have read a rumour that the first one had a slightly smaller viewfinder window. Also, the baseboard cover should be different, because it will not be embossed "Solinette II". I'd be very interested to see a picture of that. As regards its worth - I doubt it will be worth more than any other Apotar/SV Solinette. I'd expect the appeal of this camera to be limited ... heck few people even seem to know or be interested that it existed!!!
