Neither nikkormat or FM series cameras, even though cheaper than the F range, still where rather expensive and nikon didn't have anything in the "amateur"price range. This changed in 1979 when nikon introduced the EM (Every Man's nikon) an entry level aperture priority small size camera with it's own set of "budget" lenses but still compatible with the F mount. The EM and it's later offshoots, the FG and the FG20 where a marketing disaster for nikon, as buyers didn't want cheap nikons (maybe they remembered the dreadfull nikkorex range) so nikon dropped the whole budget range whitin a few years. Nevertheless time has shown these where fine cameras and they are now (slowly) being apreciated for what they are. I've recently made that part of my collection complete with the FG20 i've found for next to nothing in a charity shop. I took this picture to test and practice my focus stacking skills it is made up of nine diffrent shots put togheter in PS.
