Not exactly an ebay find, i got it the old fashionned way, at the camera store. Each time i drive into town, for a board meeting, i take some time extra to pass by the Grobet camera store www.grobet.be/nl/. It is one of the very few independent camera stores able to survive in these big corporation and internet days. The interesting thing about Grobet is they've got one shop window dedicated to second hand stuff. Besides from shopping for bargains it has become at meeting place for fellow collectors happening to pass by looking for a bargain as well. This week i've got this great deal on a tamron AF Aspherical XR LD (IF) 28-300 3.5-5.6 nikon mount macro focussing zoom. It's a somewhat "older" in perfect condition, type without stabilisation or build in motor, but as it is FX i can use it on the D3 as well as on the d300. I have to say it performs better than i thought, maybe not as well as the nikon 28-300 but for 49€ !!! i'm not complaining :-) This is going to be my light weight walk around zoom from now on ( unless i can find the nikkor version for 49€) Should for any reason you were to visit Antwerp and you are facing the cathedral and the statue of Rubens, turn to your right pass the Hilton for a 1 minute walk to Grobet, a camera enthousiast "must".
