Just bought a few minolta's, with them came 2 series one vivitar lenses, normally i'm not interested in 3th party lenses but the 35-85 2.8 varifocal did bring back some memories. I remember when it came out in 1974, back in those days zoom lenses , especially wideangle wide aperture leses weren't very common and this one really looked spectacular. This 35-85 isn't a zoom though but a varifocal lens, meaning you have to refocus each time you change the focal lenght. This and a price of 2000$ in todays currency prevented me from buying one nomatter how well it looked.( bought a komura 35-70 instead) So now i got one in MD mount, it is very unlikely i will ever use it, it will just be added to the collection as a nice piece of photographic history i think it will look nice next to my voigtlânder 36-82 zoomar. I won't be keeping the 70-210 there's enough of them around , had them in nikon and canon mount but never kept them.(they seem prone on developing mould and lens separation)
