Just back from Vietnam, i feel sorry to say Vietnam isn't the place for camera enthousiasts.
I did some research to where i might find camera stores (preferably with old or second hand gear)and got a few adresses.
However when i went by taxi to the "classic camera" adress in Hanoi there wasn't anything looking like a camera store, lack of time in Hanoi prevented me from looking any further.
Moving to the south there was little to be found camera store wise, in Sa'pa like nothing, Hoi An had a camera store where you could buy memory cards, have film developed and printed but camera wise the only thing available was low end point and shoot (digital) cameras. We rushed through Da-Nang no time to look for cameras there.
Finally in Saigon i found a few camera stores, but NOT on the locations that where given on the internet( but even so in district 1 though). Still they only had the low end DSLR's and the as for classics there was a zenith E, a Zeiss Ikon Movikon N8 camera and a nikon pronea 600i aps slr, not exactly what i was hoping for, afterall with some 5.000.000 inhabitants in Saigon i would have expected a bit more cameras turning up.
Out of frustration i bought a new vanguard tripod head, because i needed one and had some vietnamese money to burn the price was about what i would have paid home but i couldn't come home empty handed now did i???
The "second hand" store in saigon
Saigons camera hot spot
Nice ads, if only they had the cameras advertised..
One of the more classy photo stores
i could have taken a job to pay for my camera collecting habits
Why use a camera when you have a phone
Passing by the canon plant outside Hanoi
In Saigon Christmas is celebrated in style .
Merry Christmas and a happy 2017 to all camera collectors!
