Bought this Retina II type 014 at the charity auction where i bought the Nikon F It's in good condition and came with some period accesoires. It has the Rodenstock Heligon f:2/50mm wich i think is quite a nice lens for this type of camera. It isn't the most practical camera to use, the rangefinder is very small, shutter and film wind isn't coupled, focussing goes rather stiff, when focussing your hand get's in the way of the finder. This is definatly a camera from before the era when ergonomics became important. On the other hand, it's folding design and small size make it very pocketable and makes me want to put a film in it to see how it performes.

You will probably be amazed by the lens. This model is my favorite in the Retina series; I have an example with the more common Schneider Xenon lens.
That viewfinder is really quaint.

I've got more retina's (cameras that is:-) ) than i thought i have. Must admit i've found them in one of my junk boxes, maybe i should give them some more attention.

I have a soft spot for Retinas, a used II was my first serious camera.
The Reflex S is probably in the right box. Used one back in 1968, a nice camera while it worked, and excellent Schneider lenses. My late father got tired of it breaking down and sold it. If you get a IIIS, its Xenar could come handy, and maybe a lot of parts could be used.
I have an old Retina that is similar to the one in the center, could not swear to the specific model.

Slr's with central shutters are mostly a lot of trouble. The central shuttter-mirror combination is a vulnerable construction. Allmost all cameras of this type i've come across( like nikkorex, kowaflex, contaflex, voigtlander) were broken and so is this retina reflex. Apart from flash sync on all shutterspeeds i can see no advantages of a central shutter slr over a focal plane shutter one.Probably the reason why by the end of the sixties the central shutter slr concept was abandonned by all makers (i'm not talking about medium format though).

I have an Agfaflex which works fine, apart from a slightly hesitant 1s speed. My experience with other similar cameras (Topcon, Kowa) though, is similar to yours.
