I bought a Centon 28mm 2.8 MD mount lens off Ebay. It wasn't the lens I was so much interested in as the three B-W filters and a very solid lens hood. I've never had any experience of Centon lenses which seem to have a bad reputation. Any one with any thoughts on them.

Centon were a cheap brand offered to the British public by Jessops chain of shops, there was at least one basic SLR badge-engineered on something else. I do not think generally the lenses had very good reviews.
Around the same time there was a shop called Derek Gardner in South London, I had used the one in Leatherhead, Surrey in the early 70's. They were getting lenses badged Derek Gardner, I have just bought one in with an old SLR, it has a M42 thread and is a 135mm f2.8 made in Japan and appears to be very well constructed. I have made some research and this lens might have been a Soligor design rebadged for the shop.
