Hi, the forum is petty quiet these days. I'm not an Alpa man, but I'll do my best to answer your questions. The camera is from the mid 50's and was one of the best available. They are quirky and cumbersome to use. Only an Alpa fan would enjoy using it. That said, they were made to the highest standards. But like all old cameras, they seize up with lack of use and the shutter curtains are prone to rot. Servicing is VERY expensive and could mean sending the camera overseas to a specialist. Which country are you in? The condition of this one is not great. I suspect it may need some work. As it is you could sell on ebay, but if you know nothing about SLR cameras it would be difficult to test. Here is a link to the manual which may help in that respect. www.cameramanuals.org/alpa/alpa_reflex_7.pdf

"Collectiblend" gives price estimates & links to similar stuff. Search for the Alpa as well as for the lens (which I assume is either a Kern Switar or a Schneider Xenon). The auction house which used to be called Westlicht in Vienna but now has a more Leica-like name, is a reliable place for selling. They do not take on defective equipment, so do check the various functions.

Thank you both for the information. I will do some more due diligence.
