I have Varex IIa, IIb, RTL 1000 and some EXAs. Did not shoot with the RTL 1000 and the EXAs yet, too many other interesting cameras to use. Here is the Varex IIb and some images I shot with it. The Domiplan is not a bad lens You can see more images in my AlbumHannes

Hi,
The Praktisix / Pentacon Six was on my wishlist for years. Some time the whish was strong but the price too high, then the whish fell asleep. But recently I stumbled over this one for a price I could not resist. It was close enough to check it before pickin it up.
The body has a low serial number 18xxx which indicates that ist is from 1959. The lens is multicoated and with 5 digit serial number, which indicates a production year 1965 or later.
It is working, no overlapping frames :-)
Hannes
PS: Hans can you tell more about late Jena lenses with 5 digit serial number?

There have been many rounds already. All well known cameras have been shown at least once. But to keep it going I say
J, again for Jupiter 9, but in a not so common mount It is for Kiev 10 and Kiev 15. This leads us directly to letter K Kiev 5 and Kiev 15 also not often seen in the western world.

Kiev 15

Here is a photo of the Jupiter 9. It is really in beautiful condition. Last weekend I put a film in the Kiev 15. The weather was fine, thin clouds and soft light but good contrast and sometimes a little bit of sun. I used my Gossen Digisix to compare the reading of the cameras light meter. The light meter of the Kiev 15 gives correct light but only as long as you cover the eye piece with your eye. As soon as back light comes in it is off up to 5 steps or more. I'm wearing glasses so I normally always get back light into the finder. Hannes

I am sorry for that.
Today the long awaited Jupiter 9 for Kiev 10 / 15 arrived from Ukraine. It is in perfect condition.
I think you have to take the risk to order from UA. There you can choose between a handful offers of cameras in good condition. In Europe they are not very often offered. If you find one they are described as broken or untested.
I would not buy a broken one. The fan blade shutter is complex. Right now is a 1€ Kiev 10 on ebay with open shutter. I would not bid on it even if I could get it at the starting bid. 20 € postage is too much, except you want a shelf queen.

Kiev 15

Hello: I'm very interested in your opinion of this camera.
I have mixed feelings about it, so do I have about the Kiev 10. I could get a 15 not too long ago, from a german seller. Everything is working even light meter and auto exposure work somehow. I write somehow because the values I get on dry run vary and the values are more rough guesses than measurements. I also found out that it is very sensitive to light coming in through eye piece. I could get an english translation of the instruction manual, which is a lot of help to understand the settings.
Did not shoot a film in it yet, still waiting for better weather
Here is a photo of mine
And one more side by side with the Kiev 10. More images in my flickr stream including images from the case.

Hi:
Congrats to your Zorki 2, it is hard to find. Zorki 2S is more common.
I found d the answer to the question about the flash socket on my Zorki 1 in the Maizenberg book. The book has a chapter how to modify the camera to add a flash socket on page 125 ff.
" Camera repair shops receive the flash sockets from the plants. Lay people can make them as follows: make a cylindrical brass tube (Fig. 141) ...."
So it was a private modification supported from the factory.
That is why most modified Zorki 1 with flash socket have them on the same position.
And for the Zorki 1 with slow speed dial on the front: This was a prototype of the Zorki 3. It is mentioned on this site:
Zorki 1(c) PM1085

Hello: Is someone shooting with one of theese interesting SLRs? I have my Kiev 10 since more than one year now, and dit not use it yet. Now after I got a Kiev 15 too I will use the Kiev 15 as soon as the fog goes away and winter sun comes out. I do not trust the light meter of both cameras, neither do I trust the automatic. In some dry run comparison to a handheld meter values of the meter in Kiev 15 seem to be rather random. Any experience? Hannes

That is a good catch. I had never seen a Kiev 5 before. Pity that you cannot mount a Helios-103, but that Jupiter must be a good lens. I have enough cameras where I can mount the Helios-103, which I like very much. For Kiev 5 there is a Helios-94. I'm looking for that lens, but could not yet find an affordable one in good condition. The Kiev 5 was rare but now there are always offers from Ukraine. I got mine from Germany. Hannes

Hello This thread seems to be dusted, or is nobody getting new additions? These 2 have been on my list for long, now I got them in good condition with working light meters. Kiev-5 and Kiev-15 The Kiev-5 is based on the Kiev-4 and derived it's body and the shutter. The top is new with improved bright range finder and light frame for 50mm. The last version also had a frame for 80mm. The lens mount was modified too. It lost the inner bayonett. Therefore a new 50mm lens with outer bayonett has to be developed. Jupiter-8 NB. Kiev-15 is improved version of the Kiev-10, the selenium light meter is gone and replaced with TTL meter. it uses the same fan blade shutter as th eKiev 10. Both models have auto exposure with shutter priority. There is no aperture ring on the lens, it is on the body instead. Kiev-10 und Kiev-15 The Kiev-5 sourrounded by other models of the family and a few lenses. Hannes

Finally I got the IS-1000 to make them a Trio
Olympus IS-1000, IS-2000 and IS-3000 absolute underrated cameras, I could get them for less than 10€ each. THe IS-3000 was free. The lenses are sharp, autoexposure is accurate and the flash system is superb.

I did not shot film also for about 10 years after swapping from Nikon F301 to D70. But in 2014 I came back and started collecting all the cameras I missed back then.
Rangefinders, especially russian ones take a great part of my collection. My very first 35mm camera was a second hand fed 1. Recently I got a Kiev 5 in nice working condition. I will present it here as soon as I have made some pictures of it.
