One of these beauties came up on Ebay about 2 or 3 months ago. They were asking, if I recall, about $4000 US. The Norwegian Police had ordered them, I believe. Several hundred. Apparently Nikon stopped the order because it was costing more to produce than they could possibly make, and only a fraction of the projected number was produced.
I'm a half-frame freak, and the story was right up my alley. The Olympus Pen F and FT series are just fabulous cameras. I have 5, and use them all quite regularly. It was the first SLR I owned. I also have a near mint original Autoreflex that of course has a half-frame switch. But I'd do many strange things to get hold of one of those Nikons!

Hansz - charming in a nostalgic sort of way. Looks a little like a cross between a Minion and a Dalek.

The Ciro-flex is an American Classic, whose heyday was in the late 40's and early 50's - it was intended for advanced hobbyists, and it is really a very nice camera. The Wollensak lens was an excellent triplet, and compared favourably to the Rolleicords. Hard to get a good one these days . . . I'm lucky. My copy is very good and works like a charm! Most I've seen are pretty ratty. It was never really considered a collectible - but now a nice one can fetch a hundred and fifty or so. Here's a couple of shots taken with this relic, on HP5 film, HC110 at 1:63 for 11 minutes. The first one is of the Nechako River cutbanks at Prince George BC. These are both scanned 5"x5" prints on Arista Edu grade #3. And the second I took at the railyards on 1st Avenue of Prince George: Thanks for looking in!

Hi. My name is Gord Lucas, but my net name is moltogordo on any forum I belong to. Three big hobbies - photography, hunting, fishing. Been those three all my life. I'm a professional violinist (retired), and currently teach violin and piano, and conduct the Northern Orchestra of British Columbia. My hobbies have given me ample opportunity to take pictures of my interests, so I'm primarily a portrait/landscape photographer. I work in color with digital, but do all my B&W with film, using a different camera every time, it seems! My favorites to work with are my Linhof Kardan 4x5, the Mamiya C330, the Pentax MX and more than anything, my half-frame Pen FTs. Have five of them. I don't scan negatives, I print. I love printing so just about anything I post will be a scanned print or a digital photo if color. My interest in cameras has, of course, led to the disease of collecting! And thus, I've arrived here! See you all around the boards! Gord
